Help me give my students the opportunity to learn through play. They are very excited to be in school. This is their first year in a classroom socializing with the peers. I want them to create memories!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade students love hands on experiences! They are inquisitive and energetic. They have different interests, abilities and goals. Most of my students are reading in English and in Spanish.
They love to play outside during recess.
They collaborate during small groups and help each other during small group activities.
In this classroom, students come from different backgrounds. I have English language learners and Spanish language learners. At this time of the year, students communicate with fluency in both languages in English and in Spanish.
My Project
Most of the materials I am requesting will be used in a science unit. Students enjoy learning and reading about different types of animals. They have a pet tortoise in the classroom. They are very excited observing the tortoise and learning about its structures. My students are Spanish speakers. Science is in English. They need to hands one experiences to expand their vocabulary and comprehension.
Students are very active.
The items I choose will help them relax and stay focus in class. In first grade, students learn better through play.
