This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is in a suburb that is considered a very transient part of our community. Many families in the area are in short term rentals or living in low income housing. Many of the students live in multi-family homes or multi-generation homes. Even those families may be living in long-stay hotels.
Eighty percent of my students are considered ESOL, which means that English is not their primary language at home.
Our school is a Title I school meaning that a majority of our students are on the free or reduced-price lunch program and have re limited resources at home.
My Project
Our third grade team is requesting a variety of recess equipment. We currently have eleven classes in which play in a variety of areas on campus, none of which are a playground. We are hoping to get a good variety of things, like basketballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes for their enjoyments. We also hop to get the storage containers to store the equipment which will double as a place for the teachers to sit and monitor the classes.
