My Students

Counting should be as easy as 1, 2, 3. For many young children, this is not the case. They struggle with number order and one to one correspondence. Help make learning to count in our classroom fun!

I have 22 kindergarten students who are excited to attend school everyday.

For some of them, this is the first time they are in school. They are an amazing group of students who come ready to learn new things everyday. They learn best when they are engaged by the content or activities and when the materials they use in school match their interests and home life. Our school is doing the best we can to purchase all the resources we need, but the budget makes it difficult.

My Project

My students will be able to work hands on using these math manipulative's to help them better grasp kindergarten math concepts. This is the first time that they have to represent amounts with number words. It is a lot to take in and requires practice. Due to limited resources, the other kindergarten teacher and I have been sharing math manipulative's so we have enough for the whole class to work with. These counters will help my students count, make patterns, sort, and begin learning simple addition and subtraction. This hands on approach will make it stick!

Math manipulative's will help ensure that my students conceptually understand numbers and have problem solving skills, not just rote memorization of the steps to solve a problem.
