A world without "gaming" is unheard of. "Gaming" is considered a normal everyday activity in the life of my students. My students need "gaming" to motivate them and to help them practice newly learned skills.
I have seventeen first grade students in my classroom.
I teach in a high risk, high poverty pubic school district in Oklahoma. Most of my students see "gaming" as a valued past time in their homes, the end result is they too, love "gaming". My project will help embrace their love for "gaming" and turn it into math and literacy practice.
My Project
I have requested four handheld Leapster2 learning devices, two Leapster2 games and two headphone sets. My students will be able to use these Leapster2 learning devices to practice newly learned skills for reinforcement purposes. I have a variety of math and literacy games the students will have access to. My students will be excited and motivated when practicing newly learned skills with the Leapster2, instead of doing boring reinforcement worksheets.
My students count of donors like you to help with the funding of our classroom projects.
Our school district has been faced with so many cut backs they are unable to purchase new learning materials for us. If you choose my project to donate to, you will be helping me motivate my first graders to practice skills so that those skills will become fluent and mastered.
