Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Smiling faces running down the hall to see me every morning. They walk in and say "good morning Ms. Martin," put up their folders, get their breakfast and sit down to eat. As they all sit there finishing breakfast and beginning their morning work, we are all preparing to learn new things that day.

I have 21 wonderful students in my classroom this year.

My school is a title 1 school where students come from very difficult backgrounds. They come to school and have a place to feel safe and cared for during that time. At school we have to focus on meeting their needs before they are able to learn. They have big hearts and are so trustworthy if you prove to them you care for them and love them. They enjoy learning and are excited to learn new things each day.

My Project

We will be using the leapsters as one of our centers. Each center group of 5 students rotate between their 3 centers each day. This will allow for another center they are easily engaged in and makes meaningful learning. They will use these to practice reading skills and be read to for enjoyment. It will help their reading, writing, and listening skills.

The leapsters will allow the students to be able to learn from technology, which they are not introduced to at their home.

With these students growing up in a generation where technology is a big part of their lives, it is important to be exposed to it young. This will allow them to learn in a way they enjoy and can use different skills from it for the rest of their lives.
