LeapReaders to Build a Love of Reading

My students need five LeapFrog LeapReaders and the books that work with this system.

My Students

Many of my students are reading well below grade level yet have a desire to learn to read. Listening to reading is the first step in instilling a life-long love of books.

My students need a lot of motivation, attention, and love to get them through each and every day.

They have a desire to learn but sometimes they get overwhelmed and frustrated. There is a lot of potential in this group and they just need their best qualities brought out and their confidence built up.

My Project

Right now, many of my students are reading on a 1st grade level in the 3rd grade. This awareness is affecting their desire to read and having a negative effect on their overall confidence. I hope that the use of these LeapReaders will provide an engaging literacy center that promotes a love of reading. The books that have been requested will build on basic phonics skills, as well as, provide background knowledge and vocabulary enrichment. With time, I hope that not only will their reading levels improve, but their confidence as well.

Reading is a crucial part of our world.

By fostering a love of reading now, I hope that they will become life-long, avid readers. I also hope that this donation will build up my students' confidence for now and in the future.
