My Students
My students are eager to learn to read. They are eager to listen to others read to them and they are eager to hear themselves read.
My students come from a low income area where their opportunities have been limited.
My students are cute, wiggly first graders who are eager to learn to read. Our school is low income and our students don't have many of the opportunities that others their age have. Most of my students are English Language Learners. They need to hear themselves and others speak and read English in a variety of genres.
My Project
My students will use the LeapFrog learning system as a learning center during our literacy time. My students will be able to listen to others reading books to them. They will be able to hear how words are read and their eyes will be opened to new genres and reading styles. My students will also use these LeapFrog learning systems to listen to themselves read and speak English. They will be able to record themselves reading and listen to how they did. My students' reading, listening, and speaking skills will increase because of these experiences.
My students will enjoy hearing themselves and others read books from different genres.
They will learn how fluent readers read and they will be able to learn a greater variety of English words. My students will love reading and they will love hearing themselves become fantastic first grade readers!
