My Kindergarten students are excited to learn! This is the first year of school for most of my students, and like any other students, their eyes light up when they discover something new.
My students are 5 and 6 years old in a poorly funded school district.
They are the future of our society! We have 100% free lunch status, and many of my students are challenged by the lack of materials.
My Project
I am very excited about the materials I am requesting for my students! They are items that I have been wanting to purchase for awhile and I know exactly how they will be utilized in the classroom. The charcoal carpet will be used during literacy centers. A section of it will be used in the library where students can sit with a stuffed animal or partner and enjoy a book. The rest of the carpet will be used for students to spread out and do different ABC puzzles or word work. The book bins will be used as a way for students to store their individual reading books. Each student will have a bin with their picture on it and the bins will be stored on a ledge. During our independent reading time, students can get their bin and have their own books to read daily. This will keep the books organized and easy for students to find.
My students will take ownership of these new materials and they will truly help with the organization in the room.
These materials will be vital for both independent and small group learning.
