Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are faced with the challenge of learning sight words, making words, and needing to practice their fluency, but I do not have the necessary supplies to support different types of learners.
I teach in a small Title I GA elementary school with less than 500 students.
My students are from a diverse population and have different academic and emotional needs. They are a wonderful group of students who work hard to learn but some have issues and need additional support.
My Project
My students will work individually, with me, or in pairs to read along with the Tag readers with books they find interesting. LeapFrog has helped by incorporating characters that children love and I know that my students will love to read about FlyGuy, The Cat in the Hat, Spider Man, and others.
For my students who are learning English as a Second Language, hearing the words as they touch them will help them connect the short and long vowel patterns in words.
My students are in need of tools that will help them to read and LeapFrog Tag readers and books will help them to increase their reading skills. With increased reading skills, my students will experience successes not only in their reading but also in their writing, and other academic areas.
