LEAP Personalized Learning Challenge: Flexible Seating for Fabulous First Graders!
My students need comfortable and versatile seating options to create an optimal learning environment, including wobble cushions, floor pillows, beanbag seats, and a floor table.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students from last school year will be moving up to first grade with me! I am so excited to be looping with my students and I’m ready to spend another year of learning, fun, and excitement with these amazing kids! They are kind, helpful, and eager to learn. My students are everything a teacher could wish for! The class formed strong friendships with each other and I can’t wait to see how much more they can accomplish with another school year together. I know my super Kindergarteners are ready to become fabulous first graders!
My Project
Flexible seating options (wobble cushions, floor pillows, beanbag seats, and a floor table) will make a positive impact on my students’ learning. It will allow my classroom to become an individualized learning environment for each student. Flexible seating will provide the perfect seating options for students to work in groups, pairs, or on their own. Throughout the year they will be working on STEM projects, reading centers, and math groups. They will have the opportunity to choose a place in the classroom that will allow them to focus on their learning goals. Although my students will be surrounded by the same classmates from Kindergarten, the classroom will feel new and exciting. My students will feel the joy of the new school year and it will be filled with old friends and new seating options.
