My students need TAG reading systems, TAG books, and headphones to allow them to participate in independent reading!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gruver's classroom raised $368

My Students
The TAG reading system is proven to help students build their independent reading skills on many different levels, and my students would love the opportunity to use a set of TAG readers in our classroom!
I teach a group of highly motivated, HIGHLY active first graders!
With 17 boys in my class and 11 girls, we have a lot of movement in our classroom, which means we need a lot of different types of learning opportunities! My students come from a high poverty neighborhood, where most don't even have a bed to sleep in and food on the table, let alone access to basic classroom supplies.
My Project
I am so excited to introduce you to the TAG reading system from LeapFrog! With the combination of headphones, and the amazing TAG pen, students can touch a page, word, or letter in their book and hear it read to them. This allows students to participate in independent reading on many different levels; the lowest students being read to, the middle students developing their phonics skills, and the highest students acquiring vocabulary while still learning proper pronunciations. The variety of Learn to Read books introduce students to all of the major phonics skills and patterns, and the flash cards and spelling activities allow the students to practice those patterns in a hands on way!
When you have a classroom with 28 highly active, first graders, who are years behind in their reading skills education, it is difficult to give every student the attention they need to be successful.
By adding the TAG reading system to our classroom, it allows the students to function reading independently on their own levels. By helping us purchase this TAG reading system, you are helping us to become career and college ready in our classroom!
