My Students

We are 18 eager and ready to learn 5 and 6 year old boys and girls. We come from all types of family backgrounds and live in a quiet community. The majority of us are from middle to low income households and have hard working parents at home! We are so excited to be big kids in a big school, some of us for the very first time. About half of us were in preschool prior to kindergarten. We can't wait to see what kindergarten has in store for us this year!

My Project

We currently have a LeapFrog based learning station in my classroom. Most of the materials have been purchased at garage sales and are starting to slow down, quit working, or are no longer relevant to the students. The new LeapFrog LeapPad is an incredible learning tool that engages these digital natives in their own world. Using characters from recent movies/tv shows to encourage learning. Also I teach phonics using the Letter Factory from the LeapFrog so this device connects the students learning in whole group to a fun game during station time. This LeapPad and games would improve and modernize our LeapFrog Learning Station and improve the students practice using the skills they have been taught while I am able to work with other student individually!
