This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are happy and energetic children who need lots of encouragement to learn. Our school is in a low income area, so the parents can't help out as much as they would like. Almost all of the parents work at least one job, so coming to help at school is impossible.

Our neighborhood is a little over 60% Hispanic and many of the parents don't speak fluent English.

Helping with homework is too big of a challenge for most. This makes every minute at school that much more important.

My Project

Have you ever tried to complete a job without the necessary tools? My students need supplies to begin the new school year. Even though some students bring supplies, there is never enough to go around. The crayons, pencils, writing paper, and folders are needed for classwork and projects that we will be completing throughout the school year. The composition books will be used as writing and reading journals. We write everyday!

They are excited to use the new supplies, and this makes them eager to learn.

It's so nice to have the supplies ready when the students come to class. The students can't wait to begin learning how to write, read, and complete projects with the new supplies. The pens and markers will be daily while they are learning in centers. It also make teaching them much easier when I don't have to search for materials.

I'm also asking for super hero decorations. I like to put the students names around the room. This helps them feel like this is their area, and encourages them to have super hero behavior!
