Leading by Example With a Document Camera

My Students

I teach sixth grade at a Title I School in Provo, Utah. We are nestled in a small neighborhood where we serve as a school and also as a meeting place for families. For many in our community, our school is where they have the opportunity to build family and school relationships, and access the technology that helps their children's learning.

My students are respectful, innovative, and hard-working.

They come from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, contributing to the diversity of our class and school.

We strive to excel not only academically, but also to develop active leaders for the future. We foster teamwork and cooperation, learning to work with a variety of people in a variety of situations while also working to improve individually.

My Project

Writing is an important aspect in all areas of learning. Note taking is a critical skill that my students are beginning to learn in 6th grade and is a skill that they will take with them as they move on into secondary school. They take notes in reading, math, and science.

A document camera will allow my students to see examples in real time.

I will be able to give my students step by step instructions to help them visualize their learning. It will allow them to evaluate their own work to become reflective and independent learners and will also help them cultivate the skills they need to be critically-thinking readers, writers, mathematicians, historians, and scientists.

Printer ink will allow my students to take their work and print it for viewing, sharing, and evaluating.
