My Students

Our High School is a small public charter focused on educational equity and social justice.

Working as the head of our Special Education department, on a small leadership team, means that I have an opportunity to help shape our school's journey towards inclusive education for all students.

Our students come from all over the greater Bay Area. We have a mission to create the opportunity for all students to be eligible for college, and to build the skills needed to persist through college and life. Our school is a close community; student relationships are a big part of our staff culture.

My Project

As an emerging education leader, it is important to me that I am building the skills that I need to create meaningful school changes. I am currently reading Shane Safir's 'The Listening Leader: Creating the conditions for equitable school transformation' with our Director of Special Education as a way to individually dive into my learning. I have been working on building the skills I need to be an effective department leader; fostering equity and inclusion for students, and amongst staff, in order to promote a culture of community.

Being able to attend Safir's workshop in February would be an immersive opportunity to gain perspectives and deepen my understandings and skills on improving school systems for equity.
