My Project
Our school library Media Center has been given two 3D printers for students to make and create with! Our school is working to become a "Leader In Me' school, which, In a nutshell, is a plan to teach Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to children. I’m really excited about teaching our students the 7 habits that will help them be successful at whatever they choose to do! Our students are voracious readers who love to create different types of artwork from the stories that they read! I want my students to read books that relate to the 7 habits then using our 3-D printers, create an artifact, based on something that they have learned!
In order to create the artifacts from the stories that the students' read, our 3-D printers need the PLA filament that will bring their work to life.
Our library Media Center is a multi-sensory experience! I use many different types of materials and resources to engage our learners. The different color PLA filaments will make an enormous impact in our library because students will be about to see their creations being printed right before their very eyes! Their ears will experience the "digital sounds" that the 3-D printer emits. Their fingers will be able to touch their flexible designs through the 3-D printer's rapid prototyping! How awesome is that!
