My Students
I am learning how to more effectively teach themes that engage students in a way that is more interesting than traditional teaching methods. In an attempt to empower twenty-first century learners, constant reinforcement of information is so important. My students, being NYC students, need to know how the world around them works.
My students are inquisitive and eager to learn using something that is actually interesting.
They are in this three year Law Academy hoping to leave it with a love for law. Students learn best when they themselves can learn in an environment where they have information that best speaks to their interests. Learning about the law can be dense; my students want to make the law interesting. They like fiction and reading interesting topics.
I want my students to be able to make sense of the world around them. We, as educators, need to find more ways to relate the content to something they know. Please don't allow my students to have this limitation in their education. Please help my students to be able to learn in a way that is more comfortable and suitable for their lives.
My Project
I want my Law Academy students to be able to grow their library of legal studies. Reading constitutional law texts and constitutional amendments can be difficult, there needs to be stories that pique their interest.
By getting their hands on this historically significant book, To Kill a Mockingbird, they will come closer to not only being engaged, but learning about cultural differences that have existed in the United States.
They are excited to read/ listen to a book that is interesting. The Audio Book file will help any of my students who have a difficult time reading independently as we read aloud or at home.
