My Students
Do you remember the magical experience of the first movie you ever saw as a child? Now imagine the excitement and pride that our students feel as they create films and make movie magic all of their own! Every day, amazing students from all walks of life are presented with the unique opportunity to learn the craft of film and media production, to embrace the language and power of the moving image.
Although our students learn the technical skills needed to creatively tell stories through film and video, they lack access to many of the fundamental tools of the industry.
I teach an incredibly gifted group of students, and it is my goal as their Film instructor to help provide them the filmmaking equipment and resources they need to be successful.
Georgia’s film industry ranks number one in the production of the top grossing feature films in the world. Our school lies in the heart of the hostess city, beautiful Savannah, GA. Every year our Film Studies program gives voice to nearly 200 student filmmakers, many whom aspire towards a career in the booming Georgia film & television industry!
My Project
Every high school student filmmaker in Georgia deserves access to quality sound recording equipment. One of the most important tools in a media-makers toolkit is a lavalier microphone. Lavaliers, also known as lapel mics or clip-on mics, are small wired microphones that are widely used in filmmaking and broadcasting. From film to television shows to your nightly news, lavaliers are essential recording tools for recording dialogue as they are discreet and unobtrusive and can be positioned close to the mouth while remaining out of sight.
Please help us put these fundamental media production tools into the hands of our student filmmakers.
Like so many other technical instructors in public schools, the greatest challenge is the inability to make much needed equipment purchases for our student filmmakers each year. It's my hope to continue to raise awareness of the educational needs of our students, and I kindly ask for the help and support of our community stakeholders. Any way you are able to make a difference goes a long way towards supporting our students' learning outcomes!
