Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Literacy Coach at a K-5 Elementary School. We are a Balanced Literacy School, which means we teach students Reading and Writing at their own, individual level. To accomplish this we have a Literacy Library in our school. This library contains a variety of fiction and nonfiction books at beginning reading level to a high independent reading level. Each teacher meets with groups of children in his/her classroom each day. Each day the teacher introduces a new book to the group. As you can see, a literacy library must contain multiple copies of a variety of books at each level. We are in desperate need of beginning Kindergarten and First Grade level books. This is such an important stage in reading development and requires that children spend a lot of time reading many different books at school and at home. Our Literacy Library does not have enough books at this level and the teachers do not have the books they need to teach their reading groups. Literacy, at this beginning stage is so important to children's overall development as lifelong readers. How they learn to read will effect their self confidence in the future. I am asking for: The First Wave Set 1 Complete Package, to help these readers. This is a set from Rigby that contains 192 books (32 titles: 6 copies of each title) and a Teacher's Resource book. I appreciate your consideration in helping these beginning readers.
