Help me give my students a hands on science experience to enhance our study of patterns of Earth and Sky.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, with a hunger to learn, and excited for what they will discover on their own for the day. I ask them, "What do you want to learn?" because I want them to know their hunger will be satisfied. I like my students to know they are in charge of their learning and have the ability to do anything they set their mind to.
I teach in an urban, low socio-economic area.
All of my students receive free lunch. My students are humble and enthusiastic about learning. They don't have much sometimes at home, but they would give you anything they had to offer. They love school and they love the safe environment school provides for them.
Many of my students sign up for after school programs, in which they are selected by lottery. Despite language barriers, financial status, limited technology available at home and a highly populated school, my students still show a desire to learn and do their best.
My Project
The concept of space is one that is difficult for my students to understand. They can see the sky but have a difficult time understanding how far and complex space is. They know we send shuttles into space but see an airplane taking them somewhere.
The Space Legos will help my students visualize the difference between an airplane and a space exploration machine.
My students will also benefit from the hands-on experience of working with the Legos.
After the pandemic and returning to in person learning many students are struggling with the ability to work together and compromise. My hope is being able to collaborate with the Legos will also help with that.
