My Students
My fifth graders are apart of a wonderful community of learners at a Title I, inner city school. We are a STEM school that focuses on integrating math, science and technology into our curriculum. If you were to walk into my classroom, you would see students having fun, learning and working together.
I teach math and science at our Title 1 School where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our school offers extended after-school programs for students who need a safe place to be while their parents work. We also have a special attendance program at our school that lets parents and students know the importance of coming to school everyday.
My Project
Graphing points on a coordinate plane is an important standard in fifth grade. My students will get hands on learning with individual graphing white boards and markers. The students always enjoy using white boards for hands on learning!
I will be able to efficiently and effectively model how to plot points on the magnetic graph paper and chart paper.
The magnetic graph paper will allow me to quickly show students how to use other strategies such as making arrays and drawing models.
The organizational charts will help the classroom run smoothly. Students will know exactly where they need to be and what materials they need for their group. Pocket charts for each student will allow the students to keep track of their work and help keep them organized.
