Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Multilingual teacher, I have discovered the importance of having my diverse students represented in the books we read in class. I have made an effort to include diverse books in my classroom library and am requesting some books to add to that collection. I thought it would also be nice to celebrate their heritage.

I would like to decorate our schoool hallways with decorations that celebrate our hispanic students especially during Hispanic Heritage Month.

We have many students that have recently immigrated here from Ecuador, Peru, Honduras and Nicaragua. As a minority teacher myself (from Ecuador), I know how wonderful and rare it is to be able to make a cultural connection with someone and to have my culture celebrated. That is exactly the type of experience my students have been afforded via this funding.
