Latin Supplies for Dr. G's Classroom

My students need Latin dictionaries, flash cards, and grammar pamphlets to help them learn Latin and have fun while doing so.

My Students

My high school serves a student population that is predominantly minority students from underprivileged backgrounds. My school is also part of an innovation program within its district. This program is designed to turn around underperforming schools. The mission is to move schools from the bottom 5% to the top 25% in the state of Tennessee. The principal hired me to start a Latin program because she recognizes the potential of Latin to improve students’ abilities across all subjects. This year is the2nd year that Latin has been offered at my high school. I currently have one 2 Latin I class es and 2 Latin II classes, with a total of 60 Latin students.

My Project

These supplies will make it easier for my Latin students to learn Latin and have fun while doing so. The dictionaries and pamphlets will allow students to translate without flipping back and forth in the textbook.

The Latin Clash Cards will make learning Latin fun!

The clash cards are flash cards and a card game. The flash cards build vocabulary, which will improve their literacy skills. The card game aspect makes it more engaging.

With all of these supplies, my students will have what they need to learn Latin. Furthermore, learning Latin will improve their achievement across all subjects and prepare them for a career beyond high school.
