Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are some of the most kindhearted, caring, resilient students I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. They began their schooling during a global pandemic and learned how to navigate an entirely new school system all with a smile on their faces. They did not get a kindergarten graduation as they were at home virtual learning. They are the first dual immersion students to complete the program from start to finish. They are a unique group that deserves to be celebrated.

They have worked extremely hard and have earned the right to celebrate for their 5th grade promotion.

I want to gift them each with a personal graduation stole they can have their friends autograph so they can remember their time in elementary school. Our school feeds into multiple middle schools meaning most will be venturing off to new places, we do not do yearbooks, I want them to have something tangible where they can remember their friends and teachers. Will these sashes have a major impact on their learning, no. Will it increase their test scores, also no. But will it give them a moment where they feel completely special and loved, yes and personally that is worth everything.
