My Project
My students are learning how to program and use the shops CNC. I have taken it upon myself to buy a laser cutter for the class to allow the students to design, program and cut at a smaller scale. With the budgets becoming tighter each year sheet goods are hard to come by. This project will allow the students to learn and practices the same skills but instead of breaking bits, wasting plywood due to tooling errors. The material for the laser is easier to help fix what could be catastrophic results on the CNC.
I am trying to use the same industry training to build skills needed for our workforce but have them use a smaller machine to see how successful their designs are.
This process will allow the students to then have a scale of the final project so when take the file to the CNC they know that the G code has been properly programed for a successful project.
