Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Middle school ages students in a high poverty area, at-risk of joining gangs, in need of creative outlet and self-esteem building community involvement. Arts and Literacy project.

The project is unfunded from the school or district. Many young artists need an outlet. The mural art will send visual and text-based messages to the school's student population that express positivity and a spirit of nurturing which is non-existent in their community.

Our after-school program, LAS MANOS, is involved in a creative project to design and produce murals on the campus of our school. The group is composed of boys and girls, ages 12-15 from the school. Our goal is to generate mural art to beautify our campus and reinforce literacy skills amongst the student population. Our murals will be completely student-designed and painted, but we need your help to procure the supplies necessary to bring our ideas to fruition. We hope to acquire exterior paints in a variety of colors as well as materials such as brushes, paint pans, rollers, drop clothes, and ladders.

We are writing to request that you make donations on our behalf. We will be extremely grateful for any donations that you can provide. We promise to supply you with information about the status of our project and a report upon its completion as evidence of the experience that you will have afforded us. Our murals will stand as a testament to your goodwill and will be enjoyed by students on campus for years to come.
