Help me give my students more room to sit on the carpet. I work as a PEP teacher at a title one school. I am a first year teacher and our current carpet is too small.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am seeking a carpet for my classroom to enhance the learning experience of my students. The addition of a carpet will provide more space for students to focus, work, and engage in lessons comfortably. Currently, my classroom is limited in terms of flexible seating options, and many students struggle to find a comfortable spot where they can feel settled and focused. A carpet will allow them the opportunity to sit in a more relaxed and spacious environment, which is crucial for creating a positive learning space.
The carpet will also provide flexibility, allowing my students to move freely and position themselves in a way that is conducive to collaboration, independent learning, and one-on-one interactions.
Being closer to me and to each other will foster a sense of community and support learning through group activities and discussions. This will enable better proximity for small group instruction, where I can give each student the attention they need.
My students thrive in environments where they feel comfortable and empowered. Some need additional support to stay focused, and a soft, flexible seating area can make a significant difference in their ability to concentrate and engage fully in the lesson. By having a carpet, they will have a designated space that promotes both comfort and learning.
Ultimately, my goal is to create a classroom where students feel valued and are able to do their best work in an environment that is conducive to learning. I truly believe this simple change will have a lasting, positive impact on their academic progress and emotional well-being.
