A typical day in my class is full of fun, creativity, and of course, lots of learning!.
I like to give my students a fun and safe learning environment where they can have enjoyable experiences. In addition to learning how to read and write, our class enjoys exploring art and culture!
Our school is full of many talented and bright students with so much potential for greatness!
I work in a very old school building located in a small, low-income, high poverty town, riddled with drug abuse. Many students are in foster care situations. Most of the children in my care are being raised in single-parent homes with many other siblings, many are being cared for by grandparents or other family members, and even family friends. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
My Project
My first goal as a teacher is to provide a safe and enjoyable learning environment where students can feel comfortable and loved. I do my best to provide many of the things needed for our classroom.
In my class we enjoy doing a lot of large group activities, individual work, morning meetings, story times, group discussions, collaborative work, and games. Providing my classroom with a large circle time carpet is a goal I would love to meet. It provides each student their own designated space to sit each day. This gives students sense of routine and belonging and makes a huge difference in the classroom atmosphere!
A lot of students enjoy participating in groups but also require their own personal space.
This carpet gives each student their own space to sit in while participating in these activities.
The carpet is also a beautiful feature to add to our classroom. Having a beautiful, clean, and organized classroom is something that the students take great pride in and something they may not experience at home.
