Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A life-size clay head of Emperor Qin's terra-cotta soldier, a lego model of the Great Wall of China, a glittery shoebox with a barbie doll mummy, a Silk Road board game, 100 cuneiform inscribed clay tablets, canopic jars of play dough and binders full of invented civilizations. These are just a few of the things you can see when you walk into my 6th grade Social Studies classroom.

My kids are the best.

I know every teacher says this, but they really are. They are wonderfully compassionate, innovative, talented, hard working, eager, silly and amazingly creative New Yorkers. They represent the diverse tapestry of religion, culture, learning styles, and identities that make this city great and we celebrate this in our school.

I want them to have access to every opportunity to grow and learn and be inspired to become whatever it is they want to become. And that's where you come in.

My Project

What I really want for my students, more than anything at this moment, is more access to technology. More specifically, we would love a class set of laptops that live in our room.

Laptops are such an important tool for engaging students in meaningful, real world work.

The possibilities that are now available to students because of platforms like Google Classroom create amazing opportunities for tracking growth, differentiation and family outreach.

It would mean so much to my students, especially those who do not have access to a computer at home, to be able to use these nine requested laptops regularly and I know they would really appreciate your help.
