This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low economic background where their neighborhood is surrounded by negativity, crime and violence. Somehow my students manage to come to school every day despite their current rural surroundings.
My school is a safe haven for all the children in the community where they can come and feel safe and know that each person in the building loves each of them whole-heartily.
The majority of my students are more than two grade levels behind and need additional material in order to build them up to their rightful grade level. We currently have about 50% of our students who reside in a homeless shelter nearby. Based on the current data, students require additional phonics practice to build them up to their current grade level.
My Project
My students need the laptops to assist them with their daily class work. Since my students don't have access to the computer lab on a day to day basis, the laptops will engaged them in the various activities that caters to their academic need.
Not only would the laptops be used during both whole and small group instructions but they would allow better functionality with educational apps such as I-ready, reflexmath, Explore learning, Acclerated Reader.
By donating the laptops to my class, you will be giving these kids the opportunity to grow, create, and prepare them to become proficient users of the 21 century technology.
