Laptops Desperately Needed! Oh My!

Help me give my students two HP laptops for our gifted math and science classroom.

My Students

"Why are we here?" is what I always ask my second grade students every day. They always answer with a resounding, "To do our best and learn something new!" as they enter my class with smiles on their tiny faces.

Our elementary school has a high number of students who are high-poverty, first-generation immigrants from Haiti.

Even though we have to cater to and adapt to such a diverse range of learning needs, we strongly believe that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology. As their second grade teacher, my main objective is to enhance and improve their young learning experiences, especially when it pertains to their learning environment.

My Project

In my gifted class, there are students who have various special needs as well as multiple learning styles. Because of the technological learning challenges they face, we have to find ways to accommodate each child.

In March of 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were abruptly changed to a virtual and remote style of teaching and learning which was a struggle in itself as many of my students did not and still do not own mobile devices.

I was able to make it through so far, but now that we will be welcoming more students face-to-face after the spring break, my worse fears seem to be coming through in terms of not having enough devices for my students.

We are requesting two laptops that have built-in cameras and microphones that can be used seamlessly. When we resume face-to-face instruction, I hope to have at least five extra laptops to be shared among my students. Your support for this project would ensure that my students and I are learning and teaching using technology.
