This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a visual and performing arts high school where the majority of our students come from low-income families.
What I love about my students is that they are incredibly creative as young artists and also apply themselves to their academic studies.
They are special because even though they have disabilities, they routinely work hard to overcome the difficulties they face. A recent success in the classroom happened when a student with attention and anxiety challenges was able to use technology to help him focus and successfully organize information when working on a lengthy project and research paper.
My Project
My current laptop is 5 years old and it is slow to startup, does not stay connected to the internet and slow to search up information on the internet. A new laptop will help me support my students during in person and remote learning.
No matter if we’re in person or virtually, I support my students by assisting them with the various platforms and assignments.
I will also use the laptop to write my students’ Individual Education Plan(IEP). In addition, I’ll be able to conduct IEP meetings with parents via Zoom.
I will also need a working laptop to attend several professional development classes this summer which will improve my teaching and knowledge.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
