This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school serves a middle to low-income neighborhood in New York. I teach in an ICT class, which means half of my students have IEPs, but they all come from many diverse backgrounds. My students are lively, talkative, and eager to do well in school.
For my students, hands-on instruction and technology are key.
Many of my students only have access to computers at school and we only have one classroom computer, that is hooked up to our Smartboard. It is difficult for students to be able to use this technology independently, so we need something portable!
My Project
With this laptop, we will be able to use our Smartboard and have a laptop for station work. Right now, our only laptop is hooked up to the Smartboard, so we are unable to use them at the same time! Our Smartboard connects to a laptop and a projector to make a large interactive touch screen computer. This technology makes the one computer accessible to all of my students.
With this Macbook, my students will be able to play interactive learning games, share our writing, and work in groups to solve math problems.
My students are now having to complete these activities that used to be fun and exciting, by merely using pencil and paper.
