Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an amazing group of socioeconomically disadvantaged students who up until recently, had limited access to technology. Despite these limitations, my students showed up every day with a passion and drive to learn. We recently acquired some Chromebooks (thanks to an earlier DonorsChoose.org proposal) and have been able to accomplish amazing things that we weren't able to do before. My students love being able to watch and learn from the many educational websites they are now able to access.
My Project
My students need a laptop computer that supports Microsoft Word documents. While it's wonderful that each student has their own Chromebook computer, there are times when they need to submit a document using Microsoft Word. Unfortunately the Chromebook computers we have only support Google documents.
I am only requesting one laptop because students are able to use the Google Documents application and then copy and paste into the Word Document.
If this project is funded, my students will be elated! They have been working on group math projects that involve story telling and this will help them submit their work into the contest they have entered!
