Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, these students come to school daily with a smile on their face.
They are eager learners who come to school every day looking for a safe and engaging place to learn.
As their teacher, I strive to provide an environment that they can use to explore and learn while closing the achievement gap.
My Project
Bridging the gap! All teachers strive to bridge the educational gap for students in poverty.
With the addition of this laptop to our classroom, students will have access to more resources.
The initial plan for the laptop is to aid in research for writing. Fourth grade is an important year for students as they are required to complete the Florida Write assessment. As we prepare for this assessment, it will benefit students to have multiple resources to conduct research for their writing. There are also many other uses for the invaluable devices. STEM projects, science apps, access to books, math practice, math centers, reading apps... and so many more.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
