Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students and they know it!

My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.

At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best on everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.

My Project

This will be my first year as a school librarian, and I want to create a welcoming space that is inclusive to all where collaboration, communication, and learning take place. I was informed that our technology is obsolete, meaning I cannot do any updates and they run slow. Because of this, my library is in need of laptops where students can research and read ebooks. In addition, I will be providing students access to online resources necessary for financial literacy learning.

My goal is to have a strong school library program that has a positive impact on student achievement!

It is my job as their librarian to provide my students with the opportunities that they deserve. The new laptops will help empower my students with 21st-century skills that are critical for their success. It will inspire them to create a variety of projects that promote STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, Math) in the library. We thank you for your support!
