I work as a guidance counselor in a high need, high poverty elementary school. I serve students in grades K-3.
How often would you rather sit somewhere other than a desk? Everyone does their best work when they are most comfortable! Sitting on the floor, on a bean bag, relaxed against the wall... everyone works best and is more confident when they are comfortable.
Lapboards for learning will allow students to work to their best potential. With each student having his/her own lapboard they can move away from the traditional desk and chair. Also, spending a majority of the time working in small groups, in sitting in circles, each student can be a part of the group while still having his/her own space.
You can make it possible for my students to explore themselves in various locations around the school. They will be able to explore, grow, and build as positive citizens, as individuals, small teams, and larger groups.
