it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an amazing group of middle school math students in the South Bronx. My students come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and many of them are English language learners. Despite facing challenges, they bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong desire to succeed in the classroom. What makes my students special is their resilience—they are determined to overcome obstacles and work hard every day to achieve their goals.
The real-time translator earbuds I’m requesting will transform how I connect with my students who are still learning English.
With these devices, students will be able to hear my instructions and explanations in their native language while simultaneously building their English skills. This will allow them to fully participate in lessons, ask questions, and engage in classroom discussions without feeling left out. For example, during small group activities, students will be able to work more confidently with their peers and contribute their unique perspectives, which enriches the learning experience for everyone.
By providing these translator earbuds, my goal is to break down the language barriers that can prevent students from reaching their full potential. Math is a universal subject, but clear communication is essential for students to succeed and build confidence. These tools will help create a more inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student has an equal opportunity to thrive.
