My Project
The materials requested in this project are small miniatures of common objects. The students who will be using these items are nonverbal and are significantly impacted, falling on the Autism Spectrum. These miniature objects from Lakeshore can be used in so many ways. First, the students will be able to explore these objects; playing with them and feeling them in their hands. When developing language, students need to be able to pair picture icons with real objects and then realistic replicas of objects. This is the next way to use these items. This process is the gateway for students to be able to use an Augmentative Communication Device, which allows them to communicate with others around them.
This project will help give these students a voice through functional communication!
These students need guidance to develop functional communication and language to have their needs met, to make requests, and for safety throughout their community and home environment.
