My students need 2 sets of Rhythm Sticks, 1 Rhythm Stick Fun CD, activity ccarves in different colors, 1 Musical Scarves Activity CD, and the Dr. Jean Classics CD collection!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We need more music!! I teach Kindergarten and ESL at a Title One school in New Mexico, serving a very low-income population of students. We are 100% free lunch and breakfast.
My students get Music only every other year. When they do get it they only get it for 1 hour, every other week. Many students are learning English as a second language and really could use more music, song, and dance, as it promotes oral language and vocabulary development, gives them lots of opportunities for movement, and is fun! My students and I would love to do more music and dance in my classroom.
I enjoy giving the students multicultural experiences. I am hoping to use the Rhythm Sticks and Dance Scarves in our exploration of songs and beats from around the planet. Teaching students who are learning English requires lots of songs, as they expand their oral language and vocabulary at a rapid pace when they learn fun catchy tunes, such as Dr. Jeans songs which are great for learning! I plan to make classroom big books using the Dr. Jean songs that my students can read again and again, as they sing the words!
Thanks for you help! You are making a difference in the world and my Kindergarten class and I show our deepest gratitude for your support!
