Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The dictionaries I am requesting will make a difference in their learning because it will give them the opportunity to take control of their own language development and learning. It will also give them the ability to learn a foundational skill of using a dictionary. The rug will provide the opportunity for my students to not only collaborate with their classmates, but also to have their own spots during movement activities. It will also help me to teach them how to control their bodies in settings outside of their desks and tables.
My specific goals for this project is to allow my students to take control of their own language development and realize that they can do it and don't have to be dependent on teachers to provide translations and definitions.
For the rug, I want my students to be able to have a comfortable space to collaborate with one another and learn to keep calm bodies not just at their seats.
My students are special because they have a hunger to learn and the ability to learn to use not only their home languages but also in English. They are kickstarting their lives to being bilingual, trilingual, and maybe even quadrilingual. I believe that the skill to have another language is valuable in times like now.
