Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth-grade students come from a Hispanic background. However, their individual backgrounds are diverse. Their families come from different places and have different but similar cultures. Their life experiences are incredibly unique, yet their eagerness to improve and learn is strong.

The neighborhood in which our school is located is surrounded by some serious issues that are enough to damage my students’ self-confidence and make them unhappy.

Most of them have many family issues, a troubled household, and lack of attention that causes loneliness. Nevertheless, my students strive every day to overcome those issues by learning and wishing for a better future.

My Project

Language is used every day in my classroom as well as in the rest of the world. Using a dictionary when my students encounter an unknown word in a text that does not have many clues within the sentences, will help my students take control of their own learning. Aside from providing the meaning of a word, dictionaries will help my ELL students to look a the correct spelling of the word and the part of speech the word belongs to.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase my students' language skills, but you will ultimately help them to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to more richly understand a text, speak with greater clarity, and feel more comfortable with a difficult task.
