Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an education specialist, I regularly work with students with learning disabilities and students who belong to households that speak multiple languages. For many of my English Language Learner students, school is the only place where they have consistent exposure to academic English.
These phonics centers will help maximize language instruction during small groups.
My goal is to expand small group instruction to give my paraeducators materials needed to carry out phonemic awareness activities and maximize exposure to academic language. This is necessary for upper elementary students who will be expected to use reading to learn once they transition to middle school.
