Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a very diverse background. Our school is a low poverty school with many students only receiving academic support during school hours. Many of my students are English language learners. For some this is the first time they are being exposed to the English language. We are a kindergarten class and many students have little to no experience with school.

My students go from knowing very little, to leaving kindergarten with everything they need to be successful in school!

We learn everything from letters to numbers and all that is in between.

My Project

The students will use the Let's Find Out magazine to learn language development through social studies and science concepts. I enjoy using the magazine because it gives them reading opportunities as well as an activity and videos that go along with the concept. It brings the concept to life in a way that makes sense to them. I love how Scholastic gears this magazine to the appropriate level.

This donation will make my student's lives better because it will give them experience with things they have not had a chance to experience.

It will allow them to bring something home that is theirs and it something that they will be able to look back at throughout the year to help them improve their skills outside the classroom.
