My Students
My students are eager to learn, but unfortunately, they do not have the full support to be able to thrive. They go through dramatic events both at home and school but they are special in their own way. My students are in an urban, city neighborhood. The school is a tier one school with a lot of the students having issues with their academics.
My Project
The materials in this project will help give my students a new way to write. Often times, a lot of my students just write about whatever is told and stray away from writing using their own imagination. With some of these materials, I am able to give them story starters to get their juices flowing. My students love our Language Arts class and to keep them interested, I want to have fun and sometimes silly situations to write about. A lot of my students have issues at home and in their community so taking their minds off these things and have fun while writing will help them excel and improve their writing skills. I like to keep my students writing organized so that they can refer back to what they wrote so the expandable files and folders will assist with that. The journals would be something the students will hold on to and keep to read their entries or write more.
