This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are curious and excited learners who thrive when challenged and supported.
We are an inclusion school, serving students with varying abilities and needs.
We commit to the growth of all learners, by seeing and respecting the humanity of all students, meeting and serving students where they are, promoting access, participation and progress for students of all abilities, reconsidering and redesigning arbitrary structures and reflecting and growing constantly. We strive to create rigorous learning environments where all have the confidence and resources to succeed.
Our school community emphasizes excellent academics, strong social-emotional supports, and engaging extracurriculars as three major pillars to ensure the success of the whole child. We promote values of community, leadership, and joy in the classroom.
My Project
Our middle school is incredibly lucky to have a pool in our building. Our students get the opportunity to learn swimming as part of physical education starting as early as kindergarten. As the swim coach, I offer after-school programming for all grade levels, PreK through 8th grade. As a result, we have multiple swim teams who use the same pool equipment. We have a Pre-K & Kindergarten swim team, a 1st-3rd grade swim team, 4-8th grade swim team, and a 4th-8th grade swim club. All students share the lane lines to help them reach their swimming goals, which is why it is no surprise that we have already broken two out of three this year!
Lane lines are some of the most expensive items as far as sports equipment goes!
Though our school serves students in a low-income community, all of our students deserve high-quality sports equipment! They are dedicated athletes who work hard at practice before and after school. Please support us in giving them the lane lines they need to succeed in the sport!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
