My Students
I am learning how to more effectively teach themes that engage students in a way that is more interesting than traditional teaching methods. In an attempt to empower twenty-first century learners, constant reinforcement of information is so important. My students, being NYC students, need to know how the world around them works.
My students are inquisitive and eager to learn using something that is actually interesting, that will engage them and activate their civic duty.
They are in this three year Law Academy hoping to leave it with a love for law. Students learn best when they themselves can learn in an environment where they have information that best speaks to their interests. Learning about the law can be dense; learning through reading about important concepts, they will connect with the content.
I want my students to be able to make sense of the world around them. We, as educators, need to find more ways to relate the content to something they know. Please don't allow my students to have this limitation in their education. Please help my students to be able to learn in a way that is more comfortable and suitable for their lives.
My Project
This project will help students be able to identify landmark Supreme Court cases as easily as flipping the page. Often times, books or textbooks encompass too much content. This text is straight to the point and written at an academic level suitable for high school students.
As students in the Law Academy, my students need to be able to determine and interpret landmark Supreme Court decisions, they can't do that, if they can't understand the writing or if they can't access the content, because it is hidden behind a paywall.
More than half of students from low‑income households
