I teach in a specialized classroom that supports learners in grades K-3 with Autism. Throughout the day, students in my class complete closed-ended tasks such as File Folder activities and adapted books in order to target foundational academic skills. They also benefit from visual supports like schedules, reward charts, and communication helpers (picture cards, core word boards, etc.). To make these materials more durable and to ensure that they can be used over and over again, these resources are laminated and include velcro for all of the interactive pieces.
Autism classrooms use tremendous amounts of velcro and lamination.
This can become a large expense. Our class would benefit greatly from getting this project funded so we can continue to create more resources for students to use.
