Laminating Our Learning Aids for Health and Safety!

Help me give my students five packages of laminating sheets and three boxes of velcro fasteners for our classroom.

My Students

I work with and teach students in the third grade at a quaint school in North Miami Beach. I can boast that the students I serve are an amazing group of little people, who are always excited to jump from one learning experience to another.

I want them to always have the joy of learning, may it be in-person or remote.

I want them to be eager to learn and explore their potential. I want to see all of my students' eyes light up when they "get it". I just want to provide them with every possible incentive to keep that spark going.

I am very creative when it comes to making visual and hands-on aids for learners with needs, but the cost of materials has gone up, so now I am making my first request for materials to laminate the learning aids so we can all stay healthy and safety.

By laminating the sheets, these learning aids will be wipeable and easily sanitized for the next student or group of students.

My Project

I already own a laminator that I bought out of pocket, but the cost of the thermal sheets has increased since last school year. I am requesting five packages of laminating sheets and three boxes of velcro fasteners for our classroom.

Having the laminating sheets my class uses will help prevent the spread of germs within the classroom.

It has been my experience that if I do not laminate an item that will be handled often by students, that item would not last very long. Anything handled by students at this time should be cleaned after each use.

Apart from learning aids, I laminate reusable rubrics, self-editing tools, charts and procedures, instructions for an activity, hall passes, and bathroom passes. My students use these items daily to guide their learning and practice.

If I can laminate these items, I will be able to wipe them down with antibacterial wipes after each use. This will make our classroom cleaner and safer. The laminating thermal sheets will allow the class materials, hall passes, class job charts, and other items to last longer which will also save on paper and printing costs.
