My Students

Hello! My students live in Los Angeles, CA, one of the most diverse cities in the country! They learn and flourish at our high school, whose educational vision is to develop exemplary students that "pursue academic excellence, are involved citizens, and possess 21st-century skills." In my classes, they are community-driven scientists ready to transform their communities and world. They face many barriers and are coping with the realities of living in an urban community, such as immigration, pollution, violence, poverty, and gentrification. Yet, they are resilient and proud of their roots and upbringing as they rise as confident and motivated scientists and scholars.

My Project

Hello! A laminator and pouches will help me to provide better lessons and activities for my students. By laminating manipulatives, handouts, and other resources, students will be kept safe and preserve paper. Laminated materials are easier to clean and disinfect, especially at this time. Additionally, given the realities of climate change, we can do our small part by preserving paper and materials for future use. Also, as we have transitioned to in-person teaching, it is important to continue giving students different learning modes. Having a laminator in the class will allow me to be creative and create engaging and fun content since I will not have to travel to find one or pay additional funds to laminate.
